From the Group Chat: The America’s Next Top Model Docuseries, Sydney Sweeney’s Syrn Launch, and the 2026 Grammy Awards

EDITOR’S NOTE

Happy Sunday. Due to DC’s astoundingly bad snow removal, I’ve spent a, frankly, concerning amount of time inside this week. Thankfully, the internet delivered enough content to keep me from going too stir-crazy.

👀 Millennials and Gen Z have found a new thing to disagree about: how to style this cold-weather staple.

👖 You know the drill: Jennifer Lawrence wore puddle jeans, so now we need puddle jeans

👋 The secret to making and keeping friends as an adult? “Aggressive friendship.” Don’t worry, it’s less, well, aggressive than it sounds.

🥶 Skip the coats and scarves — this is the coolest way to wear faux fur, according to NYC’s fashion set.

💈 The only thing hotter than a man with a 401k? Apparently, a man with a 401k mullet. We’re as confused as you are.

The Tyra Mail you didn’t know you were waiting for has finally arrived. On Monday, Netflix dropped the trailer for Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model — a three-part documentary series on the show that introduced millennials everywhere to the concepts of “go-see,” smizing, and being on top (no, not in that way). The obvious questions: Will the Booty Tooching and Hot Ice Cream Pioneer be interviewed? Oh yes. What about runway coach Miss J Alexander, photographer Nigel Barker, and creative director turned self-insert fan-fiction author Jay Manuel — all of whom, lest you forget, were eliminated from the series after season (ahem, cycle) 18? You bet, along with memorable contestants like Whitney Thompson, the show’s first plus-size winner. And then there’s the real question: Will anyone actually be held accountable?

Since ANTM ended, practically every aspect of the juggernaut modeling competition has faced backlash — including its treatment of contestants (once compared to “psychological warfare”), the infamous Ty-rades (we’re pretty sure this is why YouTube exists), the extreme makeovers (something tells us Aimee Lou Wood would be floored by #GapGate), accusations of fat-shaming (warning: this clip will infuriate you), and alleged sexual assault. Not to mention, the increasingly unhinged challenges and photo shoots: walking down a high-speed conveyor-belt runway, posing inside an open grave, and the whole switching-ethnicities thing. Now, while Banks has previously addressed some of her “off choices,” even she acknowledges in the docuseries trailer that she hasn’t “really said much.” The implication being: until now. “I knew I went too far,” Banks admits, adding, “it was very, very intense, but you guys were demanding it.” (Tyra, please don’t blame our middle-school selves.) So perhaps Reality Check will be…a reality check, particularly since the directors are known for crime and political docs, not fashion. Still, not everyone’s buying it. One millennial who presumably won’t be seated when the series premieres on February 16? Adrianne Curry, the first-ever winner of ANTM, who declined to participate in the “absurd” docuseries, saying “I don’t trust people to not manipulate things I say for TV.” Wonder why.

Even for Sydney Sweeney — a woman who tried to sell us her dirty bathwater and definitely didn’t lean into those costar-dating rumors — this latest marketing stunt has reached new heights. On Monday, the actress posted a video to Instagram in which she and what we assume is her team dressed in their best Louvre heist-like getups, appeared to hike up to the Hollywood sign in the middle of the night, and cover it in bras. Why, you ask? Naturally, to promote her new lingerie line, Syrn, which launched Wednesday to mixed reviews. While many praised the impressive range of bra sizes, others got stuck on the name (which, against all odds and logic, is pronounced “siren”) and marketing (we can’t unsee this comparison). But the stunt (sorry, “signal”) came with a side of potential legal trouble. Turns out, Sweeney may not have been authorized to access the iconic landmark or use it for commercial reasons. Though, we have a feeling she’s not too concerned: The collection sold out almost immediately.

It gives us no pleasure to report that ahead of the Beatles biopics, Barry Keoghan is Beatlesmaxxing. Sorry, but we can’t let it be.

The 2026 Grammy Awards are almost here, so prepare for hours of pretending you know who everyone is. Though, with Trevor Noah hosting for the sixth (and final) time, Harry Styles presenting, and Justin Bieber performing, your odds are looking better. Also set to take the stage? Lady Gaga (we’re officially petitioning her to cover this nostalgic theme song live), Olivia Dean, Pharrell Williams (guess 2026 really is the new 2016), and not-Marcello-Hernández’s-girlfriend Sabrina Carpenter, whos nominated for six awards — almost as impressive as Kendrick Lamar’s nine. Will Noah follow in Nikki Glaser’s footsteps and roast CBS in its face? Will Ejae (of KPop Demon Hunters fame) get one step closer to EGOT status? Will Bad Bunny take home a few big Ws ahead of his Super Bowl halftime show? Tune in to CBS tonight at 8 pm ET to find out.

Madewell’s The Lexington Shoulder Bag

Margo, commerce editor, here. In case you missed it, elongated shoulder bags are all the rage, and in my experience, Madewell is a solid spot to try accessory trends without breaking the bank. So when I saw this chocolate brown bag was finally back in stock, I snagged one as fast as I could. It’s deceptively spacious (with ample room for my wallet, way too many lip products, hand cream, and hand sanitizer), and the extra-long shoulder straps make it comfortable to wear — even with my puffiest winter coat. Plus, the magnetic closure is surprisingly strong (it hasn’t popped open once), and the built-in compartments actually keep my stuff organized. Grab it in one of three earthy shades before it sells out…again.
